Three friends. Four journeys across Russia. From spring in Moscow to autumn in Kamchatka, and deep winter in Lake Baikal, Murmansk, Salekhard, and Saint Petersburg. They returned not just with footage, but with something closer to a visual treasure – a reminder that ‘Whatever man wishes to see in our Mother Russia, is there to find.’
It’s fair to say that Vincent Urban, Max Neumeier and Tim Höddinghaus are not casual filmmakers with a drone and a camera. In Russia – в России is, according to the description on YouTube, “an exploration of the many lenses, viewpoints, and expectations one can bring to a travel film.” All of it is distilled into six minutes – unusually long for a promotional clip, yet strikingly concise for a travel film. In Russia – в России manages to be both.
