Fake Russian, Faux Cyrillic, pseudo-Cyrillic. Three names for one and the same crime: desecration of the Russian language – disrespectful also towards the Russian culture as a whole. This is by far the worst you can do to the noble, defenseless Cyrillic.
The Russian Я (also the word for I) has nothing to do with an R. And the Cyrillic И/и is an I/i, not an N/n. When (mis)used that way, disasters like Яussiaи can happen.
Bad and sad is also when the beautiful Д/д is portrayed as an A. Thus Воядт was made of Borat, which really is a no-go, and should perhaps be made punishable by law.
More examples at Faux Cyrillic on Reddit (Faux as Faцx). On the same platform Real men don’t use faux cyrillic, which is (for once) a good use of faux cyrillic.
And on Twitter (@NoFauxCyrillic) at the People for Ethical Treatment of Russian, from whom the statement: ‘Russian is our language and an integral part of our culture. It’s not an exotic gimmick for you to score a point or chase clicks. Please don’t abuse it. Our Я is not your R.’
