Certainly no friend of Russia – quite the opposite. Timur Mutsurayev, born in Grozny (1976), is a supporter of Chechen independence, a position that easily earns you enemies in Russia. Yet, whether he likes it or not, Mutsurayev is forever tied to the Russian language – and to the tradition of Russian-language song.
Here are three Timur Mutsurayev songs that owe much of their power to the Russian language – and repay the debt in full.
On YouTube, there’s also a static clip. Погасли свечи covers: in black-and-white by Sakpaev (2025), from the living room by Васяга (2018).
Погасли свечи was also used in a rap by Костя Бес and remixed by Fraunhofer Diffraction. There’s also a inappropriate for some users version (login required).
Find song lyrics here; there’s also a lyric video with a guest singer and another lyric video that starts with over a minute of static.

Here’s a home version, with cola for drinks.
For more music, see Царь Соломон and Всё пройдет. For Обрубленные Крылья, there’s a video with lyrics.

and Удел труса (The Fate of the Coward, 2019).
There’s some uncertainty (and debate) over who performs certain songs: Timur Mutsurayev or Алихан Амхадов. Listen on Spotify to his versions of Милые зелёные глаза and Твоя нежная походка; also see this Meduza article (2014).
Most of the music here is also available in an R1 playlist on YouTube (in order of release).
