Misery from Smolensk, on the Dnieper River – that’s where Горемыка (Goremyka) comes from. The name itself means something like a wretch or a doomed soul (see Академик, ПоискСлов, Wiktionary). So gloomy language and scary sounds (страшные звуки) come as no surprise. But it’s all на русском (in Russian), which makes it a perfect fit here.
